Verona High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame Dinner Date Set
The Verona High School Alumni Association (VHSAA) is proud to announce that seven new Inductee’s will be honored at the 7th annual Hall of Fame Dinner this February at the prestigious “Villa” inMountainLakes. Congratulations are in order for those Alumni who have demonstrated excellence in their careers, through their athletic, academic, artistic or other notable contributions. The VHSAA is proud to be honoring the following inductees:
Anthony Fasano –Athlete, Class of 2002
Dawn Scott Mulligan-Athlete, Class of 1985
The 1952 State Championship Football Team
Dutch Wermuth – Coach
Major General Donald Strait –Accomplished Alumni, Class of 1936
Tom Valente- Administrator
Dwight Hemion –Arts, Class of 1944
This event is open to all and we welcome your support. The Hall of Fame event will be held on Friday, February 17th at 7:00 pm at the “Villa” in Mountain Lakes NJ. Please join us in celebrating the lives of the inductees, as we reflect on the accomplishments that prompted their nominations. This promises to be a fun, meet-old-friends, enjoyable evening. Ticket availability will be on a first-come/first pay basis. The cost of the evening will be $75.00 per seat and can be ordered by e-mail to Mary Wilks at MCW150@aol.com. The Verona High School Alumni Association proudly presents the presentation of the “Wall of Fame” located in the front lobby of Verona High School. This dedicated collaboration is on behalf of the Alumni Hall of Fame Committee and Verona High School. The prestigious art work was designed by Matthew Beneduce McGrath. The unveiling of the “Wall” was held November 24th, 2010 in leiu of the Hall of Fame Annual Dinner. Honored recipients present included Tom Sellitto (administrator), Rich Camp (accomplished alumni), Terence Dean (42′ golf team), Tim Bannon (athlete), James Barrett (69′ baseball team), Debbie Kloss Festa (athlete), Don Gray (60′ football team), Fred Hill (honorary hillbilly), Bev Mortenson for Eric Mortenson (honorary hillbilly), Mike Inglesino (60′ football team), Steve Janett (community service), Norman Liedke (athlete), Lynn Bannon for Bob Bannon (honorary hillbilly), Mike Passero (community service), Amy Tortorella McCarthy(athlete), MaryAnn Rotella for Al Rotella(coach), Gary Kistner (69′ baseball team), Joe Pirello (administrator), Frank Albano(athlete), George Steifbold (coach/76′ boys soccer team). In all over 100 guests were present including Glenn Cesa, principal VHS and Chuck Sampson superintendent of Verona Schools. We wish to thank everyone that attended and Frungillo Caterers for their professional catering services. The committe is currently working on the 2011 Hall of Fame event and will post here for details.

Hello Allison – this is Gail (McMickle) Sferrazza. I hope this e-mail finds you and your wonderful family well. Your inquiry will be forwarded to our Hall of Fame Chairperson, Bob DiTrani(class of ’69). Just a quick update – our Hall of Fame committee honors 5 or so inductees each year over the past 6 seasons. Last year we had the unveiling of the Wall Of Fame at the VHS Lobby. We skipped the dinner/induction and had a short ceremony for the wall presentation instead. All received nominations are kept and reveiwed each year. Families/friends that nominated a person will be informed via letter and phone follow up before the event. Bob can explain better than me, i am not on the HOF committee but can contact them for you. Thank you for your concern and please call if yu have not rec’d a response in a few weeks. My father, Herbert A. Babb was nominated a few years ago but has not been inducted to date. Will you please check to see that his nomination packet is still available for consideration? If a new one needs to be submitted please let me know.
